viewpoints: hike around Emerald Bay State Park (Lake Tahoe – California)

Emerald Bay State Park is a National Natural Landmark with 360 degree views that encompass Emerald Bay, Fannette Island (the only island in Lake Tahoe), Eagle Falls and Vikingsholm Castle. This dramatic bay setting has been called one of the “most photographed places on earth.” On this weekend in Tahoe, there was a lot of weather so the colors and beauty of the lake don’t quite pop without the miles of blue sky had it been sunny. No complaints, though. With California in its worst drought in history, the storms were a welcome sight and the air was filled with the fresh scent of pine trees.
