Letters to our Sons | February

It’s time for the next ‘Letter to our Sons’ blogpost which is a personal project that I am part of with several other loving and talented women with sons. Please  join us each month to read our personal letters and enjoy our images written to the important men in our lives.

Dear Matt & Darren,

It is officially birthday week around here and I can hardly believe another year has moved forward.  As I look back on the birthdays, every year is big.  It’s not the number of the year, it’s what the year represents – the newness, fresh start, and another set of milestones.  Oh sure, it seems like some years are just flat out bigger than others.  Turning 10 to make double digits. 13 becoming a teenager. 16 getting that driver’s license and 18 becoming an “adult.”  And now 19…the last year of being a teenager.  I find myself frantically wondering if I’ve covered all the bases and told you all the things I wanted you to know.  I know you’ve caught me staring at you and it is because I know that our time together is short and growing shorter by the day. The day is coming soon when I’ll no longer be a part of your everyday life.  So my words to you on this special birthday…

Follow your dreams. Never give up on something you desperately want. Ever.  It is okay to make mistakes in life — those are learning opportunities.   You are love and all things good in my heart. When you hurt, I hurt. When you have joy, I have joy. Of all the things in my life that I might have, could have or should have done differently, there’s one thing I’d never change and that’s having you both for sons… If I didn’t always find a way to say it, I hope I always showed it – I’m proud to be your mom and I love you both with all my heart and soul.

Happy 19th Birthday!

I love you…forever,

Mom xoxo
